Years at Crossfit Purgatory: 4

Married longer than most of you have been alive!

Where are you from? What brought you to Tucson?
I am originally from Detroit and moved to Tucson with a girl I met in college. That did not work out but I loved the desert and ended up staying. I met my wife here and we have been married for 30 years, longer than most of you Purgee's have been alive!

How long have you been a CrossFitter, and why did you start?
I have been a crossfitter for about 4 years. As a lot of you know I have young kid's for a guy my age, 19, 17 & 14 years old. I was pushing 200lb and seriously out of shape. I basically wanted to be around for my kid's and to be able to do things with them like hiking and sports.

Which movement is your favorite?
I have a lot of "least favorites" like wall balls and burpee's but probably my favorites are the push press and push jerk. I don't know what it is just something about trying to get that bar above my head without dropping it.

How have you improved the most?
I have been able to go a little heavier on my lifts and logging better times on some of the "for time" WOD's.

If you were stuck on a desert island, and could only have one food forever, what would it be?
Ice Cream

What do you love about being at CrossFit Purgatory?
I love the support and camaraderie. The encouragement from the coaches and other Purgee's is truly amazing.

What keeps you motivated?
Besides my family I just really like doing crossfit. Every day brings something different, it's not the usual jump on the treadmill for 30 minutes and go home like I was doing before I started crossfit.

If I'm not at the box, you can probably find me...
Hiking or working in my garden.

One interesting thing about yourself not related to CrossFit:
Tough question. My wife says I'm the most boring person she knows! One thing is that I love to read and read a book or two every week.
