Purgatory OG In Da House!!!
Where are you from? What brought you to Tucson?
Born and raised here in Tucson
How long have you been a CrossFitter, and why did you start?
I started CF around 7 years ago. The gym I belonged to at the time decided to close their doors. I was soooooo over the “Globo-gyms” and then I remembered hearing about this CrossFit stuff from a friend that kept talking about wall balls and snatches. That friend also happened to be the co-owner at the time of this gym he kept referring to as “the box”. I finally decided to be brave and go see what it was all about. And the rest is history. Some of the best times of my life, some of the best friendships that I have, and the introduction to my handsome husband, Dallas, are all because I took a chance one day and stepped into Purgatory.
Which movement is your favorite?
Tire Flips are so much fun and Power cleans too! It’s so hard to pick just one.
How have you improved the most?
My double unders have finally come together. I still get whipped pretty good but definitely a huge improvement. It only took about 6 years.
If you were stuck on a desert island, and could only have one food forever, what would it be?
Eggs. I love eggs. Anything egg related. I’m like the Bubba Gump of eggs. Boiled, scrambled, fried, quiche, omelets, frittatas, deviled, pouched, egg salad, spam and eggs. You get the idea.
What do you love about being at CrossFit Purgatory?
I always get a great workout with amazing people.
What keeps you motivated?
Watching others accomplish something that they struggle with like double unders, box jumps, pull ups, rope climbs. Oh, and my tight pants. I dont want to buy bigger ones so that’s another motivator.
If I’m not at the box, you can probably find me…
Most likely at work, Anytime Fitness (for the days I’m on the nw side of town), picking up the kids, kids sporting events, Trident I or IV, local breweries, and I seem to be in Phoenix quite a bit for Dbacks games/Cardinals games and for work.
One interesting thing about yourself not related to CrossFit:
I don’t like ice cream.
